Spring Concert May 25 & 26

The Story behind the concert

This production was inspired by the children’s book, The Empty Pot, by Demi.  It is about a young Chinese child named Ping, who has a green gardening thumb and can make anything grow.  When the Emperor needs to find His successor as ruler, he gives each child in the kingdom a seed.  The child who grows the best flower will become the next Emperor.  Although Ping is the best gardener in all the kingdom, Ping’s seed does not grow.  All the other children in the kingdom return beautiful flowers and plants to the emperor.  Following the advice of Ping’s father and after Ping’s best effort of trying to get the seed to grow, Ping returns an ’empty pot’ to the Emperor.  Ping is selected by the Emperor to be his successor, despite not growing a flower.  It was a test.  The Emperor had cooked all the seeds he had given to the children making it impossible for the seeds to grow. Ping was the only honest child in the kingdom and returned an Empty Pot.  A lesson of integrity and honesty.  Come enjoy the story of The Empty Pot.

Concert – May 31 & June 1

Join us as we celebrate this concert the tremendous work of all of you!  Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by visiting www.coveycenter.org.

The theme of the concert, All the World, was inspired by the children’s book, All the World, written by Liz Garton Scanlon.  Ms Scanlon’s describes her story as “Following a circle of family and friends through the course of a day from morning until night, this book affirms the importance of all things great and small in our world, from the tiniest shell on the beach, to the warmth of family connections, to the widest sunset sky.”

The New York Times said of Ms Scanlon’s book, All the World is “… a sumptuous and openhearted poem…(that) expresses the philosophy early readers most need to hear: there’s humanity everywhere. “

This is a must have book for every children’s library.

With All the World as the source of inspiration, the Dance Conservatory invites you to Join us May 31 & June 1 for an evening of celebration.

Thank You Utah Valley!

What can we say to all of you other than THANK YOU.  We feel very honored and blessed.  However, this really is a representation of all those that are part of the TDC family – our dancers, parents, and our wonderful teachers.  YOU are the ones you make The Dance Conservatory such a great place to be.  Many thanks to all of you!
